Where in the house should I place the ventilation unit?

There are several factors to consider when placing a ventilation unit. The most important is to have a short distance to the outdoor air intake and exhaust on the exterior wall, which should preferably be located on a north- or east-facing wall to reduce the impact of sun and heat. The unit must also be positioned so that there is easy access for service and filter replacement.

Cabinet-type units are often placed in a storage room, technical room, or laundry room. Units designed for attic installation are normally placed in the attic.
