Why do my neighbour and I have completely different settings on the airhandling unit?
Airhandling units can have different settings for many reasons. This depends, among other things, on the type of unit, the size of the home, how the ventilation ducts are installed, the floor plan, and how the system has been designed and balanced. The settings are adapted to each individual home and are intended to meet the specific ventilation needs there. Therefore, it is completely normal for settings to vary from one home to another, even if the houses appear similar.
Why should I choose EcoNordic WH4 instead of a ground source heat pump with FTX?
Both EcoNordic WH4 and a ground source heat pump with FTX provide high energy efficiency and a good indoor climate, but EcoNordic WH4 can be a smarter choice, especially from a financial perspective. A ground source heat pump requires drilling and extensive installation work, resulting in high initial investment costs. EcoNordic WH4 is easier to install and requires no drilling or outdoor unit, leading to a significantly lower total cost. Although ground source heating can offer slightly lower annual energy consumption, the savings often do not justify the higher investment over time. With EcoNordic WH4, you get a shorter payback period and lower financial risk. In addition, EcoNordic combines domestic hot water, heating and ventilation in one compact unit, providing simpler installation, reduced space requirements and better interaction between the functions.
Where in the house should I place the ventilation unit?
There are several factors to consider when placing a ventilation unit. The most important is to have a short distance to the outdoor air intake and exhaust on the exterior wall, which should preferably be located on a north- or east-facing wall to reduce the impact of sun and heat. The unit must also be positioned so that there is easy access for service and filter replacement.Cabinet-type units are often placed in a storage room, technical room, or laundry room. Units designed for attic installation are normally placed in the attic. Flexit also offers ceiling-mounted units that can be installed in the ceiling. These are particularly well suited for smaller homes or apartments with limited space and can, for example, be installed in a hallway or entrance area.
Where can EcoNordic be installed?
EcoNordic should be installed in a room without requirements for low noise levels and with access to a floor drain. The unit is therefore best suited for installation in a technical room. This ensures safe handling of condensate, reliable operation and good accessibility for service and maintenance.
Where can I buy a replacement motor for my central exhaust unit (ULV, USV, USVX)?
Replacement motors for central exhaust units of type ULV, USV and USVX can be purchased from several Flexit distributors. Examples of online stores that stock these motors include Megaflis, Ventdel and Byggventilasjon.
Where do I connect a kitchen hood (type E) and a humidity sensor?
A type E kitchen hood and a humidity sensor are connected via a three-core cable located on the top of the airhandling unit. Look for a black cable with three conductors. The brown and white conductors are used to activate the boost function, while the third conductor is normally not used. When contact is established between the brown and white wires, the unit will automatically switch to boost mode. This is typically used during cooking or when humidity levels are high. If you are an end user and not comfortable performing the connection yourself, we recommend contacting the service company that installed the system or the retailer where the product was purchased.
Where do I connect the pressure switch?
The pressure switch is connected using a three-core cable located on the top of the airhandling unit. Look for a black cable with three conductors. The green and white conductors are used for this function. When contact is established between the green and white wires, the unit will automatically increase the supply air flow. The third conductor is normally not used in this connection. If you are an end user and not comfortable performing the connection yourself, we recommend contacting the service company that installed the system or the retailer where the product was purchased.
How long can the duct run be for a bathroom fan?
The recommended maximum duct length depends on the duct diameter. For a 100 mm duct diameter, the recommended duct run is up to approximately 90 cm. For a 125 mm duct, the recommended duct run is up to approximately 5 metres. For a 150 mm duct, the duct run can be approximately 8–10 metres. Duct runs longer than recommended may result in reduced airflow and poorer performance.
How far away from power cables should the control cables for the control panel be installed?
Control cables for the control panel must be installed with a minimum distance of 30 cm from power cables. This requirement applies to Flexit ventilation units as well as the EcoNordic indoor climate unit. Correct cable separation helps ensure safe operation and reduces the risk of signal interference.
How long does Flexit provide spare parts for the products you supply?
Flexit’s spare parts policy states that spare parts shall be available for a minimum of 10 years. In practice, we often have spare parts available for products that are significantly older than this. The goal is to ensure predictable operation, easier service, and longer product lifespan. Updated and more detailed information about spare parts is available on our website.
