How is fire safety ensured in ventilation systems?

Fire safety in ventilation systems is ensured by limiting the spread of fire and smoke through the duct network. In most projects, the “containment” principle is used, where ventilation ducts are equipped with fire dampers and/or fire insulation when passing through fire-separating constructions. The chosen solution depends on the building’s fire strategy, the ventilation design and applicable regulations.
